THE HISTORY
In the Summer of ’72, The Summer Of Wings Paul McCartney chose WNO 481 as the 1972 Wings Tour Bus and with artwork inspired by The Beatles Magical Mystery Tour and Yellow Submarine like John Lennon’s Rolls Royce and George Harrison’s Mini before it Paul took this bird of paradise with the amazing technicolour dreamcoat rockin’ & rollin’ across Europe after the glory days of The Beatles.

With its world-famous rock superstar on board this amazing family and band adventure the tour was hotly pursued by the world’s media for over 7,500 miles across 9 countries and 25 cities. Paul McCartney’s 1972 Wings Tour Bus WNO 481 became a Legend Of Rock & Road and landed the title “The Most Famous Bus In The World”. By the end of the tour Paul, once-a-Beatle, forever-a-Beatle, had added to his spectacular cv; Paul McCartney & Wings that went on to become the biggest selling band of the 1970’s – Britannica.

THE RESTORATION UNVEILED AT THE NEC

Its no expense spared 4 year Ticket To Ride Restoration which cost over £150,000 (receipts / invoices available) was unveiled over 3 days to 90,000 visitors at The Classic Motor Show at The NEC in November 2022. Bands, including Wings legend Howie Casey, The TR5’s, Logan Paul Murphy and The Paul McCartney Story played on its newly imagined and engineered McCartney Stage on the open top deck which was inspired by The Beatles 1969 Rooftop Concert. The whole show generated excellent reviews and news coverage.

Tom Salter Seeing the bus for the first time in 50 years…”I wish I had you in 1972″
Tom was Mr Carnaby St owner of The Gear Boutique. His partner and Tour Organiser was John Morris of Woodstock ’69 fame. As Paul’s Tour Manager and with his Carnaby St designers he made-over the bus ready for the tour.
