With A Little Help From My Friends
In November 2019 I sat for the first time in a derelict bus that 50 years ago had lived a dream; in the Summer of ’72, The Summer Of Wings Paul McCartney chose WNO 481, a 20 year old seaside special open-top double-decker as the 1972 Wings Tour Bus & took it rockin’ & rollin’ across Europe 6 years after the glory days of The Beatles’ last live concert at Candlestick Park.
With its world-famous rock superstar on board this amazing family and band adventure the tour was hotly pursued by the world’s media for over 7,500 miles across 9 countries and 25 cities. Paul McCartney’s 1972 Wings Tour Bus WNO 481 became a Legend Of Rock & Road and became arguably “The Most Famous Bus In The World”.
I had a vision, a dream to restore it back to its incredible, beautiful, colourful McCartney layout and livery. Almost 4 years and many tears, tantrums, trials and tribulations later dreams can come true. It was achieved With A Little Help From My Friends; the ‘cast of thousands’ those many highly skilled people and their teams who gave big love and dedication far beyond the call of duty. We did it, we brought this bird of paradise with the amazing technicolour dreamcoat back from near extinction.
The Restoration Roll Of Honour acknowledges those whose names will forever be linked to this historic and iconic vehicle.
TO THOSE NAMED AND THEIR TEAMS WHO GAVE OF THEIR TIME, SKILL AND PATIENCE WE SALUTE AND THANK YOU.
It was sent to Paul McCartney’s Facebook page with its millions of Followers and delighted to report it was accepted.
